The Hampshire Heritage Skills training scheme is offering 9 full-time, fixed-term placements of 12-24 months to start in April to June 2012. The scheme has been made possible through funding received from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s “Skills for the Future” programme
Hampshire Heritage Skills training scheme offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in areas of heritage importance especially for those without experience or specific qualifications in this field as one of the aims of the project is to diversify the workforce in the heritage industry. The scheme will provide all trainees with high quality training not easily found elsewhere, the objective of the placement being to develop skills and knowledge via a hands-on apprenticeship approach to a level commensurate with an NVQ Level 2 or beyond.
Hampshire Heritage Skills training scheme is offering 9 skills training placements hosted by a consortium of partners – Hampshire County Council, Hampshire and Wight Trust for Marine Archaeology, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Southampton City Council, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust.
Each placement will receive a Bursary between £13,500 to £14,000 gross per annum depending on the host provider and the nature of the traineeship.
Entry requirements:
Applicants must have a genuine enthusiasm for, and interest in, culture and heritage and a wish to pursue a career in this sector. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
These traineeships do not constitute an offer or guarantee of employment once a placement is over. However, by developing a range of accredited heritage skills, those who complete their placement successfully will have greatly enhanced their future employment prospects in the heritage sector.
